Greetings, fellow casuals. I hope that both you, and the anime you have been watching, are good. I have started to become accustomed to my new schedule and am now focusing on improving all aspects of my life, which includes the blog.
I’ve been really enjoying all the love on the blog from the likes and comments to the support offline! I want to do more with the blog and that means that things have to change. It’s not you, it’s the blog.
Let’s be honest, the reviews are casual but the output is lazy. Starting this month there will be AT LEAST two reviews AND a Director’s Cut. This is your monthly Director’s Cut so be happy because I am already delivering. I also have some other fun content planned! I recently snagged @ArmchairAnime on pretty much all relevant social media (i.e TikTok and Instagram). Those accounts don’t have any content right now, but will soon… maybe! I need time to catch up to my generation and know what the hell to post.
Next up is the blog itself. Not the content, the literal blog. It’s getting a huge facelift soon! I spent close to 5 hours with a friend this past weekend creating the style sheet on InDesign. The design itself is getting there, but not ready yet so I don’t want to share any screenshots. And when I say “getting there” I mean after another ten hours of staring at line spacing, colors, and fonts I might decide something is passable. It will be a while before it gets unveiled, but I was too excited not to share.
In the next month
Okay, okay, shut up and talk about the anime. This month you can expect a review of:
- Sweetness and Lightning
- The Garden of Words
You can expect:
- In This Corner of the World
- Princess Connect! Re: Dive
- Laid Back Camp
The Lotag Gang and I have not rested in our pursuit of anime. Recently we watched the children of Made in Abyss Movie get brutalized for two hours. I have such a twisted relationship with Made in Abyss. On one hand I love the story, the drama, and the world. On the other, watching children get cut, smashed, beaten, neglected is… not something I should find entertaining. Yet here I am, thrilled at more Made In Abyss content. It was a great movie if you like the franchise, I recommend pirating it from a website near you.
After some board games we started watching Shiro Bako! What a mood shift. Shiro Bako is fun, fairly uneventful, and bright! I have really enjoyed seeing more behind the industry, what the challenges are, and how many people are involved. I didn’t realize there are so many people that take part in making an anime. I am not just talking about artists either but, voice actors, production assistants, directors, lighting people, writers, and more. I really like the female centric view and how normal and engaging they are. Anime does girls dirty sometimes but this one is okay so far.
Overall, I am excited for the future and you should be too! The three year road to be a judge on the Anime Awards begins now!
